Hello, I'm Eliot! I've worked as a technical writer at companies like
Microsoft, Sony, and Indeed, and I have a passion for making games.
This portfolio is where I show the games I've made, skills I've learned,
and experience I've gained.
Writing Projects
The following are examples of work I've done as a technical
writer at various companies.
Indeed
Wrote and managed API documentation on
docs.indeed.com using
docs-as-code (Docusaurus, MDX, and GitLab).
Spearheaded a
project to restructure the information architecture of
docs.indeed.com to organize by
capability (what is the partner trying to do?) rather than by
internal org structure.
Job postings:
Documentation about managing job postings on Indeed via an
API and plugins.
Employers: Documentation about managing employer entities on Indeed via an API.
Rakuten
My work at Rakuten was on internal documentation, so I can't
share it publicly, but I can talk generally about what I did.
Wrote specifications using Confluence for Rakuten Ichiba web and
mobile apps.
Gathered information from subject matter experts and conducted
reviews with stakeholders to ensure accuracy and intelligibility.
Created standards for how to write documentation, helped colleagues
improve their docs.
Sony Interactive Entertainment
My work at SIE was confidential, so I can't share it publicly, but I can talk generally about what I did.
Wrote, reviewed, and managed technical content for PlayStation
developers and publishers, including the PS4 and PS5 SDK and
publishing tool documentation.
Maintained consistency between various documentation sets, identified
gaps, and established processes to make it easier to improve content.
Created content for partners including a weekly developer bulletin.
Microsoft
Wrote, reviewed, and managed documentation using docs-as-code
(Markdown, GitHub) for app and game development on Windows and Xbox.
Developed code snippets and samples.
Designing for Xbox and TV: Guide to designing Universal Windows Platform apps for televisions, created in collaboration with PMs, designers, and engineers.
Windows Machine Learning: Documentation about using Windows ML in Windows apps to reason over data.
Lunch Scheduler: A sample Universal Windows Platform
app to help developers learn how to use UWP APIs.
Game Projects
Below are some of the game projects I've worked on, with links to play
them and view source code.
